The Eagles are all over the river this morning. I have spotted two adults and two juveniles. The river is full of eels, and the Eagles love them. Now that have to worry as much about other eagles, as they do about Ospreys.

I have a photo here of the Osprey going after a Juvenile Bald Eagle. The aerial battle was pretty spectacular.

These two Osprey took a breather in a pine tree next to the studio, getting ready for the next fight (sorta' sitting on the bench, as it were).

Here is the Osprey being called into the game, to go after the Eagle!

And here is the Juvenile launching itself out of the river. No Fish today!

This young bird caught a big fish, and could not get it out of the water. It sat for a very long time, flapping it's wings, trying to get airborne, all to no avail. Finally, and once it spied me, it turned the fish loose, and took to wing (above). It was a beautiful struggle, and I wish I could have gotten better photos, but I was too nervous, and did not take the time I needed to get the good shots.

Here is a young Osprey, ready to join the fray.

This Eagle (on the bottom) just snagged an eel (which are all over the river right now). If you look closely, you can see the eel in the beak of the eagle. The Eagle on top is trying to get the first Eagle to drop the eel. This aerial battle went on for some time, but moved out of camera range.

And here is the Eagle snagging the unlucky eel. Notice the Osprey giving the eagle a close watch.
