Beautiful spring morning in St. Marys' County. We got up to some pretty unseasonably cool temperatures (Low 58F, High 82F). This is two days running. The cold front is predicted to move through tonight, and bring with it a slight chance of rain. Sunday morning another cool front is expected, making Mothers Day an unseasonably cold one.

By 9AM we had finished packing the trailer, polishing up and packing the last of the glass, giving The Blue Dog a bath, and the little odds & ends necessary to leave for a couple of days. We departed promptly at 9:30AM and stopped immediately stopped for propane. We lit the fridge, and off we went. In Dalgreen we stopped for gas, and in Gloucester we stopped at the Tractor Supply and purchased a diamond plate gang box. Sherry shopped while I attached the box to the tongue of the trailer. Lucky for me I had the drills, bits and generator necessary to complete the job. Afterwards, Sherry got chicken from KFC, we opened the back of Fat Forest, set up a table, and enjoyed a very nice lunch after which we packed up and were back on the road to Portsmouth.

We arrived at about 2:30PM, found a space for Fat Forest and set up camp for the weekend. It is a beautiful spot, under a small shade tree, on the banks of the Elizabeth River, in a municipal parking lot. Across the small river we are able to see very large Naval Vessels in dock. There is a beautiful promenade that has much pedestrian traffic. The paddle boats are ferrying people to-and-fro from the Hampton Roads side of the river to the Portsmouth side. Portsmouth was the first shipyard in the continental US, and has been in continual use since the early 17oo's. A very interesting place, historically and culturally. We will come back again in August for the Seawall Art Festival. Hopefully, we will get the same parking spot.

After setting up camp, I moved the truck over to Court Street, to better off load during the 6PM set up. I stopped in to say hello to Millie (The Director of the Festival). She is a wonderful soul, who works tirelessly for the good of this festival, and the childrens charity who benefits from the proceeds. A great lady, indeed.

I biked back to "Camp", had a bite, and am going to nap for a bit before the real work begins.
