The cold came in last night, as I knew it would. You can't have mild temperatures in the 70's, followed by violent storms, and not have some really cold air behind it. Our High today will only reach into the high 50'sF. Our Low tonight will go down into the high 30'sF. The relative humidity is 61% and the Dew Point is 32F. The Barometer is 30.09 and raising. Our winds today will be gusty, out of the West/Northwest. Our Sunrise will occur at 7:29AM and will set this evening at 6:10PM.

Yesterday evening we took off early to go measure up a project for Judy F. She and her husband Gary live on Green's Rest Farm on the St.Mary's river, adjacent to Tippitty Witchity Island. This is the area of the river I grew up on. It is beautiful back there. Judy has loads of our glass, and wants a transom. We measured, visited, and, on our way out, stopped by The Raleys' for a quick visit. On our way home we stopped for dinner at Sala's for some Mexican Food. All in all, a wonderful day.

Today I have an early morning dentist appointment. After I get that out of the way I am off to LaGrange to collect the RV (finally after 10 weeks the low profile wheel cover damaged by the deer is replaced and repaired. I suspect the deer has healed from the impact, long before the RV was repaired.). Once these chores are completed, I will be able to get back home and get back on the table, and finish/begin my commission load (which is, once again, rapidly building).

Sherry is on the Arthur B. commission, a C-66 in Blue Waterglass. This is ready to ship now, to Mass., so we need to get this one done.

Well, I an going now to get a coffee, watch the sunrise, and maybe get some good shots of 'Eagle Antics'.

Just returned from the Dentist and collecting the RV. Dr.Mark is great! I left him with a book on Indian artifacts and a map of the Bushwood shoreline. He is a great guy, and his son has the arrowhead bug, so the book might help him to identify stone lithics.

Sherry grabbed me and took me on the beach to hunt for arrowheads. It was a very pleasant walk. We found lots of rocks, some worked, some oyster knives (we took these from the midden), and Sherry found two very nice projectile points. She has the Indian Eyes.

I was up this morning at 5AM, having been driven from my sleep by a glass panel I was building in my dreams. I want to do a panel, taken from a photo of Mary sitting on my lap, feeding a squirrel a peanut. The photo was taken when Blaine was in the womb, and we were all anxiously awaiting his arrival. I have had this idea for many years now, and it is one reason I started painting/firing on glass. The photo had been lost for quite some time, and I recently discovered it, shut away in the back of my drawer. It has been haunting me, as I design and redesign the panel in my head. Soon I must put the thing into a cartoon, or I will certainly go crazy, and maybe never get a good nights sleep again.

We will have a brilliant sunrise this morning, the first in many days, and I am anxious to see it. Maybe the Eagles will be up to their antics this morning!

The Netters are pulling their stobs. The nets went in early this week, and the hedge is coming down and being floated back into the bay to be stored until next spring. The fish are safe, the Cormorants have no more perch, and the Blue Heron will have to work for their catch.

I could see the Coast Guard replacing the light at Newtowne Neck. I called this in on Monday, as the light was out for most of a week. They came and made the repair pretty quickly. There must not be a lot for them to do on the river these days.

We will have rain this morning and scattered thunderstorms for the afternoon. A few of these storms may be severe. Our High temperature today will hit 76F and our Low will reach 60F. Our chance of rain is 70%. The relative humidity is 100% and the Dew Point is 70F. The Barometer is 29.91 inches. Our Sunrise will occur this morning at 7:26AM and will set tonight at 6:12PM. The winds are from the South/Southwest at 5 to 10mph.

Today I will finish up the transoms, and get started on a potential commission. In the event the commission does not come through, I will still have a nice panel for inventory.

We have overcast clouds this morning, so I will not get a sunrise. However, maybe an Eagle or two will do a fly-by and give me a shot. We will see.

Last night we had Pizza & Movie night at the Raley's. It was great fun. We really should take more time to do this sort of thing more often. Now that we are "short-timing" we are trying to cram in all of the visiting we can. Normally, it is not so much taking the time, as having the time to take. Oh well. This weekend we will get the kids, and that will be good fun. The woods are wonderful to walk in this time of year, as all of the ticks and biting bugs are gone. We will hope for good weather.

We were under a Tornado watch all day. Some violent storms moved through at around 5PM. We had a beautiful rainbow form out over Newtowne Neck. By the time I got to the Camera, it was all but gone.

The Eagles waited out the storm in their pine tree. On the way to the post box this afternoon, I found a very large (over 28-inches) Rockfish, the obvious (dropped) meal of an Eagle. On occasion, they drop these from high up in the sky, and they make a mess where ever they land. We have had fish on our cars, trucks and sheds, all dropped by the Eagles, or, in summer months, Osprey. I got the shovel, and relocated the fish to the beach, in the hopes of seeing an Eagle dine on it. We shall see.

I completed four transoms today, and have cut and foiled another in green. Sherry is working away on her side, making everything from palm trees to dragonfly's. She is a worker.

We had a nice walk this afternoon, and got caught in the rain. It was pleasant, walking with Sherry. She is, as a matter of course, a good walker, and good talker, a good listener, a good business partner, a best friend, and a GREAT wife to me!

So at about 7PM I get a phone call from Capt.Bill. I was right in the middle of fluxing up a panel for solder when the phone rang. Capt.Bill says "...go outside and look at the thunderhead going down the river". It is really throwing some lightening. So I grabbed the camera and off I go. Wow! what a light show. Down river over Coles Point Virginia the thunderhead just sat and beat hell out of the river! What a magnificent display of Mother Nature's powers! I was not able to really adjust the lens and setting, but I did get (what I consider to be) some pretty good shots. This is the first time I have ever captured Lightening on film! What a show, what a show.

There is a murder of crows at my window, making a riot with the Horned Owl that lives in the Pine woods by the studio. The Eagle will dine contently with the Vulture, as will the crow, but the crow hates the Eagle and the Owl. I am tempted to go and see the fight, but my glass is calling for completion, and so the fight will have to wait. The woods are wondrous walk this time of year. No deer ticks to bring on the Lyme's. With the leaf drop, there is much to see. If we get the rain promised, we will have mushroom. I should go and take my field guide.

Our far neighbor Jim and his dog Champ walked up to the studio for a visit this morning, and told me of a deer hiding in the wood by the road. I walked up and found this first year Button Buck in his hide-y place, and got these shots. He was very hard to locate, and well camouflaged back in the thicket. I love my living in the country. There is always so much to see, if only you take the time to stop and look.

Although it is said that they are only here in Southern Maryland during migration, the Brown Headed Nuthatch was with us all summer. Now he is gone. The White Breasted Nuthatch moves in during the winter, and is not yet arrived. The Red Breasted Nuthatch is with us in the fall, and moves south about the same time the White Breasted Nuthatch arrives.

The Red Breasted Nuthatch has been with us for the past week. This was my first opportunity to get a photo of this tiny, very fast, creeper.
The Northern Flicker has also arrived, but I have not been able to get the shot I need yet.
